Dynapack Asia Achieved ‘B’ Rating in 2024 CDP Climate and Water Assessments, Advancing Sustainability Commitments

Dynapack Asia Achieved ‘B’ Rating in 2024 CDP Climate and Water Assessments, Advancing Sustainability Commitments

In 2024, Dynapack Asia is proud to have earned a ‘B’ score in both the climate and water categories of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) assessment. This achievement reflects our continued efforts to strengthen environmental management, enhance transparency, and drive sustainable practices across our operations.

About CDP

CDP is a globally recognized non-profit organization that evaluates companies on their climate, water, and forestry impact. It helps businesses enhance their sustainability strategies while increasing transparency for investors, stakeholders, and the wider public. CDP scores range from ‘D-‘ to ‘A’, with a higher score indicating more robust environmental governance, risk management, and proactive action. Organizations are assessed across four progressive levels:

  • Disclosure: Evaluates how comprehensively an organization reports its environmental impact, excluding biodiversity and plastics.
  • Awareness: Assesses the depth of an organization’s understanding of how environmental issues impact its business operations.
  • Management: Recognizes organizations implementing actions that contribute to sound environmental management based on awareness of their environmental impact.
  • Leadership: Awards organizations that demonstrate best practices through advanced strategies and impactful environmental actions.

Dynapack Asia’s CDP Journey

Dynapack Asia began its CDP journey in 2015, starting with climate disclosures from our Indonesian operations. Over the years, our participation expanded regionally, underscoring our growing emphasis on environmental accountability. Each year, we strive to enhance our sustainability strategies and operational practices, resulting in steady score improvements.

Dynapack Asia maintained a ‘B-‘ score in Climate Change CDP assessments from 2018 to 2021 and in 2023, showing consistent environmental commitment. In 2022, it improved to a ‘B’ rating, reflecting stronger climate management efforts. In 2023, Dynapack Asia began disclosing its water-related impacts, receiving a ‘C’ score in its first water security assessment. By 2024, targeted sustainability efforts helped Dynapack Asia achieve a ‘B’ score for both climate change and water security at the management level.

In the 2024 assessment, we were also proud to receive an ‘A’ score in several key areas, including risk disclosure, opportunity disclosure, and impact assessment. This recognition highlights our strong performance in identifying environmental risks, leveraging opportunities, and implementing sound environmental management practices.

Key Drivers Behind Our Progress

Our improved CDP scores can be attributed to several strategic actions implemented across our operations:

  1. Data Transparency and Accuracy: We have developed more robust systems to collect, measure, and disclose climate and water-related data. This allows us to better monitor our environmental impact, identify areas for improvement, and demonstrate progress to stakeholders.
  2. Risk and Opportunity Management: By conducting detailed environmental risk assessments, we can proactively address potential challenges while identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements, resource conservation, and innovation in sustainable packaging solutions.
  3. Emissions reduction: We are enhancing the disclosure of our emissions reduction initiatives by transparently reporting efforts to improve energy efficiency, transition to renewable energy, and increase the use of recycled materials in production. We also disclose actions taken to optimize manufacturing processes and logistics to cut emissions across our supply chain. This detailed reporting helps stakeholders track our progress and reinforces our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.

Looking Ahead: Our Path to Leadership Level by 2030

While achieving a ‘B’ score is a significant milestone, we recognize that sustainability is a continuous journey. Our long-term goal is to reach the leadership level by 2030. To achieve this, we are focusing on three key areas:

  1. Pricing Environmental Externalities: We are exploring ways to integrate environmental costs into our business planning and decision-making processes. By accounting for the true cost of our environmental impact, we aim to drive investments toward lower-impact operations and more sustainable solutions.
  2. Public Policy Engagement and Industry Collaboration: We are strengthening our involvement in public policy discussions and collaborating with industry peers to support the development of policies, regulations, and standards that advance environmental sustainability across the packaging sector.
  3. Value Chain Engagement: We are enhancing engagement across our entire value chain, working closely with suppliers, partners, and customers to drive emissions reductions, improve water management, and promote responsible sourcing practices.

Our ongoing participation in CDP serves as a benchmark and guide, helping us refine our environmental strategies and push for higher performance each year. At Dynapack Asia, we remain committed to driving meaningful progress and leading the industry toward a sustainable future.
